I was born in Salzburg, Austria, but I was still a teenager when I started exploring other countries. First I went to the United States and then I spent some time in Spain. In these countries, I gained my first work experience, for example in the “San Francis Hotel” in San Francisco, and in the “Carlton-Ritz” in Madrid, but also in several cocktail bars.
Quite early on, I discovered my passion for excellent wine. Still in the United States, I decided to complete a degree as “sommelier” to refine my skills. Since then, I have loved collecting precious bottles of wine – and it is still one of my favourite pastimes.
After four years abroad it was time to return home. Back in Austria, I worked at the “Hotel Edelweiss” in Zürs/ Arlberg, and at the “Rainer’s Bar” in Pörtschach.
Later on, I accepted positions in international companies – first as flight attendant at Lauda Air, then as catering manager at the “Vienna Marriott Hotel”. At Do&Co, I was partly in charge of the catering at Formula One races.
All of these jobs prepared me for my first executive position – as head of “Delicatering by Merkur”- a part of REWE. For over ten years I enthusiastically managed this company – it was definitely one of my most exciting challenges so far.
January 2004, I decided to go abroad again, this time for private reasons: and I moved to Brussels. After taking some time off and by talking to many wine loving people I was inspired to turn my hobby into my profession – the result is a small, but excellent internet wine store for Austrian wines and spirits.
