Upon invitation by Karl Soukup, who sweetened his farewell bidding with a wine tasting, I was able to present Austrian wines to an international public. The guests from Spain, Germany, Greece and other EU Member States were delighted with the quality of the wines; some of the varieties such as “Grüner Veltliner” and “Zweigelt” were new to some of the guests.
