Description
Only in really special years is our red luxury Cuvée Mephisto pressed. The composition of this wine depends on the respective vintage, but is always dominated by national varieties.
Mephisto 2018 is composed of around 60% Zweigelt, 20% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. Cabernet Sauvignon forms the backbone, Zweigelt from very old vines provides structure and Merlot the fleshy core.
Selective hand harvesting, raisining without crushing. Fermentation on the skins for 20-28 days, ageing for 24 months in 300l barrels, then blending of the tranches in large wooden barrels. Rest, maturation and integration for another 6 months. No fining, bottled unfiltered.
Strong ruby garnet, dark forest berry fruit, fine spice, ripe cherries and strong structure in the tobacco finish.
