Wine region of the month: Pfalz

The German wine region is located within the same region in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. The appellation “Pfalz”, graded wines are produced, which are called Pfalz – wines.

After Rheinhessen (about 257 km²), the Pfalz with well 228 km² acreage the second largest German wine region represents. Approximately 3,600 wineries, less than half of them in the main acquisition, cultivate here more than 100 million vines and annually produce about 2.5 million hectoliters of wine. The percentage ratio of the areas of white and red grape varieties is about 60:40, the cultivation of red, has again decreased slightly by increase in recent decades.
